Vintage 2000s Colts

jerseys.

Peyton Manning (#18) was the Colts' quarterback from 1998 to 2011, and his jerseys are the heart of this collection. The uniform is the classic blue or white with shoulder stripes, but it shifted in small ways. In 2002 the stripes were cut back to the tops of the shoulders, and in 2004 the blue darkened from royal to "speed blue," the face masks went gray and the socks gained stripes. The Colts won Super Bowl XLI after the 2006 season.

Other numbers include Marvin Harrison (#88), Edgerrin James (#32, 1999–2005) and Reggie Wayne (#87) from 2001. Puma made the on-field jerseys in 2000 and Reebok from 2001; Reebok held the NFL's exclusive license from 2002 through 2011.

From Oct 3, 2026 listings

1,100 Colts jerseys turn up in a Reebok search, the deepest of the three 2000s collections, with most asking $25–50 delivered and Peyton Manning #18 on the bulk of them, plus Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark. Reebok is the correct label for the decade, as the NFL's sole jersey supplier from 2002 to 2011: plain replicas have screen-printed numbers, Premier is stitched, and Authentic has sewn numbers and a numeric size (48 = L, 52 = XL), which here costs barely more than a replica. A Super Bowl XLI patch, from the 2006 title season, is the collectible detail to look for, while Nike or 'NFL Team Apparel' tags mean a post-2012 jersey. Red flags: a Super Bowl XLI Vinatieri at about $82 and a Marvin Harrison at $29, both from sellers whose feedback wasn't captured. Budget buyers should take the $16 Manning in Medium, first-time buyers the $36 Manning in XL, and collectors the $48 Reebok Authentic Manning in 52.

NO. 03 · WHAT TO LOOK FOR
  • Shoulder stripes: before 2002 the stripes wrapped around under the sleeves. From 2002 they stop on top of the shoulders.
  • Blue shade: the blue darkened from royal to speed blue in 2004. Compare against a known piece if the shade looks off.
  • Maker by year: Puma made the on-field jerseys in 2000 and Reebok from 2001. Reebok held the league-wide exclusive from 2002 to 2011.
  • Super Bowl patches: game patches have been standard since Super Bowl XXXII, so jerseys from Super Bowl XLI (2006 season) or XLIV (2009 season) can carry the game patch.
  • Collar shield: 2002–11 Reebok jerseys carry the "NFL Equipment" shield. Manning's last Colts season was 2011, so a Manning Colts jersey with Nike's 2012 shield was made after he left.
  • Make sure the maker, the era and the design agree. A label from a company that did not make that team's gear in that period, or a design detail from a later season, means the jersey is newer or not what it claims to be.
NO. 04 · REPRODUCTIONS & BOOTLEGS
  • Nike-era Colts jerseys (2012 on) look nearly identical to Reebok ones. Check for the Nike label and the newer collar shield; the 2020 update also changed the wordmark and number font.
  • Manning also wore #18 for Denver from 2012 to 2015. Make sure the photos show Colts branding and a Reebok label, not just the number.
  • Customized jerseys: a blank jersey with numbers added later can look right in photos. Check that the number application matches the rest of the jersey and the labels.
  • Mitchell & Ness sells its NFL Legacy and Authentic throwbacks in numeric sizes (36 S, 40 M, 44 L, 48 XL, 52 2XL, 56 3XL), so a numeric size on its own does not prove a jersey is old.

NO. 05 · SIZING

Most Colts jerseys from the decade are Reebok. Reebok made every licensed NFL jersey from 2002 through 2011, but tag sizes can still run differently between jerseys, so don't rely on the letter size alone. Ask for pit-to-pit (armpit to armpit, laid flat) and back length from collar to hem, and compare them with a jersey you own. Tagged sizes vary by maker and era, and many listings are mis-sized.

Puma or Reebok Manning jersey?

Puma made the Colts' on-field jerseys in 2000, Reebok from 2001. Reebok then held the NFL's exclusive license from 2002 through 2011, so most Manning jerseys you see from the decade are Reebok.

How do I tell a 2000s Colts jersey from a post-2012 Nike?

The design barely changed, so read the label and the collar. Reebok plus the "NFL Equipment" shield means 2002–11. Nike plus the redesigned shield means 2012 or later.

Whose jerseys are these?

Peyton Manning (#18, 1998–2011) first, then Marvin Harrison (#88, 1996–2008), Edgerrin James (#32, 1999–2005) and Reggie Wayne (#87, 2001–14).

What changed in 2004?

The blue darkened from royal to speed blue, the face masks went from blue back to the traditional gray, and two white stripes were added to the socks. The jersey design itself stayed the same.
