Vintage 2000s Patriots
The Patriots changed uniforms in 2000, Tom Brady's rookie year. The royal blue jerseys with italic, shadowed numbers gave way to navy (the team called it nautical blue) with block numbers and the "Flying Elvis" logo on the sleeves. That look won Super Bowls XXXVI, XXXVIII and XXXIX. A red alternate with the old "Pat Patriot" helmet followed in 2002, and a silver alternate ran from 2003 to 2007.
Tom Brady (#12) is the headline number, with Ty Law (#24) and Tedy Bruschi (#54). Adidas made the on-field jerseys in 2000 and 2001, per the Gridiron Uniform Database. Reebok took over in 2002 under its exclusive NFL license, which ran through the 2011 season.

- Navy, not royal: royal blue jerseys with italic, shadowed numbers are 1990s. The navy jersey with block numbers dates from 2000.
- Maker by year: on-field jerseys were Adidas in 2000–01, the first Super Bowl season included, and Reebok from 2002.
- Alternates: the red alternate was worn in 2002 and again from 2009, the silver alternate from 2003 to 2007. A silver jersey comes from that window.
- Super Bowl patches: game patches have been standard since Super Bowl XXXII, so jerseys from the Patriots' title games can carry the XXXVI, XXXVIII or XXXIX patch.
- Collar shield: Reebok-era jerseys use the "NFL Equipment" shield introduced in 2002. Nike's redesigned shield replaced it in 2012.
- Make sure the maker, the era and the design agree. A label from a company that did not make that team's gear in that period, or a design detail from a later season, means the jersey is newer or not what it claims to be.
- Nike kept making Patriots jerseys in a similar navy design after 2012, so a Brady jersey in this style can be a 2010s Nike piece. Look for a Reebok or Adidas label and the matching collar shield.
- The red "Pat Patriot" throwback returned for 2009–12 and again from 2022, so red jerseys exist in Reebok and Nike versions. Only a 2002 red alternate is an early-Brady-era red jersey.
- Customized jerseys: a blank jersey with numbers added later can look right in photos. Check that the number application matches the rest of the jersey and the labels.
- Mitchell & Ness sells its NFL Legacy and Authentic throwbacks in numeric sizes (36 S, 40 M, 44 L, 48 XL, 52 2XL, 56 3XL), so a numeric size on its own does not prove a jersey is old.
Most Patriots jerseys from the decade are Reebok, with Adidas for 2000–01. Reebok made every licensed NFL jersey from 2002 through 2011, but tag sizes can still run differently between jerseys, so don't rely on the letter size alone. Ask for pit-to-pit (armpit to armpit, laid flat) and back length from collar to hem, and compare them with a jersey you own. Tagged sizes vary by maker and era, and many listings are mis-sized.

Adidas or Reebok Brady jersey: which is older?
Adidas. The Patriots' on-field jerseys were made by Adidas in 2000 and 2001, Brady's first two seasons, including the Super Bowl XXXVI run. Reebok took over in 2002 and held the NFL's exclusive license through 2011.
Royal blue or navy?
Royal blue with italic, shadowed numbers is the 90s design. Navy with block numbers and the Flying Elvis on the sleeves started in 2000, so Brady's regular home jersey was always navy.
What is the silver Patriots jersey?
