Vintage 1990s Eagles

sweatshirts.

This collection covers Philadelphia Eagles sweatshirts made from 1990 to 1999, a decade with a clean break in the middle. Through 1995 the Eagles wore kelly green and silver, with a full eagle logo and calligraphic lettering, the look of the Randall Cunningham and Reggie White years. In 1996 they switched to midnight green, mostly dropped silver, and introduced a new eagle-head logo with block lettering.

Logo 7, Starter, Salem Sportswear, Nutmeg Mills and Pro Player all made licensed Eagles crewnecks. Kelly green pieces mark a look the team retired in 1996, which is much of their appeal. A period tag on kelly green fleece is the combination to look for.

Which one to buy

From Oct 3, 2026 listings

29 Eagles sweatshirts are listed, and this is one of the pricier teams: a typical 90s crewneck runs $90–160 delivered. Kelly green is the colour to look for, since the Eagles switched to midnight green in 1996, so a kelly-green Logo 7, Tultex or The Game crewneck dates itself to the early-to-mid 90s; Pro Player and Bike are period labels too. Five near-identical "Vintage 90s Philadelphia Eagles Crewneck" listings at $132–157, apparently from one seller, are fine but generic, so ask for tag photos and pit-to-pit and length on each; treat a title with both "90s" and "Y2K" as keyword stuffing, and the $615 The Game turtleneck as four times the band. Seller feedback wasn't captured, so check it on each item page. Budget buyers should take the $57 XL, value hunters the $103 The Game crewneck, first-time buyers the $132 kelly-green Logo 7, and collectors the Bike team-issue crewneck.

NO. 03 · WHAT TO LOOK FOR
  • Color is the dating line. Kelly green with silver means 1995 or earlier; midnight green means 1996 or later.
  • The logo changed with the colors in 1996: the full eagle with calligraphic "Eagles" lettering gave way to a white eagle head and block lettering.
  • Reggie White joined the Eagles in 1985 and left for Green Bay in 1993, so Eagles White designs date from his Philadelphia years.
  • Maker tags of the decade: Logo 7 (renamed Logo Athletic in 1997), Starter, Salem Sportswear, Nutmeg Mills and its Lee Sport label (from 1995), Russell Athletic and Pro Player.
  • Tag history narrows the date: Salem was sold to Fruit of the Loom in 1993 and folded into Pro Player, Russell ended its pro football licensing in 1997, and Logo Athletic and Starter were both bankrupt by about 1999.
  • A copyright year printed under the graphic (for example, © 1994) plus licensing text such as "Officially Licensed NFL Product" or an NFL Properties mark. The year should agree with the tag and the construction.
  • A Made in USA tag. Big makers moved sewing to Mexico and the Caribbean during the 90s, so a US-made tag supports an earlier date, while a Latin American tag usually points later in the decade.
NO. 04 · REPRODUCTIONS & BOOTLEGS
  • Licensed retro lines such as Mitchell & Ness (NFL throwbacks since about 2000, owned by Fanatics since 2022), Homage and Junk Food reprint kelly green Eagles logos on new blanks. Their own brand tags give them away, and Homage names designs by year (a '93 crewneck, for example), so a year in a listing title proves nothing.
  • Kelly green is a favorite of retro lines. A bright, new-looking kelly green crewneck with a modern tag is a retro piece, not a 90s original.
  • A Reebok tag dates NFL gear to 2002-2012, when Reebok held the league's exclusive uniform, sideline and cap license. A Nike tag is later still, since Nike took over the league's uniform contract in 2012.
  • A familiar label is not automatic proof. Starter is still an active NFL licensee and the Nutmeg Mills name has been revived for vintage-style graphics, so check that the tag design, fabric and country of origin fit the period, not just the brand name.
  • Dealers list the same red flags again and again: wrong neck tags for the era, missing licensing text, a copyright year that doesn't match the tag, and artificial distressing. A cut-out tag removes the best evidence, so price that piece as unverified.

NO. 05 · SIZING

Tagged sizes from the 90s don't line up neatly with modern sizing, and cotton-rich fleece shrinks in hot washes, which is why Champion patented its shrink-resisting Reverse Weave cut. Ask the seller for pit-to-pit and top-to-bottom length in inches and compare them with a sweatshirt you already own. A stretched waistband or blown-out cuffs will make it fit looser than the numbers suggest.

NO. 08 · FIELD NOTES

When did the Eagles switch from kelly green to midnight green?

In 1996. The team changed its primary color to a darker shade officially called midnight green, largely dropped silver, and redrew its logo as a white eagle head with block lettering. Kelly green pieces from the 90s date to 1995 or earlier.

Is every kelly green Eagles sweatshirt vintage?

No. Kelly green is a popular retro look and is widely reissued. Check for a 90s licensee tag, licensing text and a copyright year from 1995 or earlier.

Does single stitching matter on a vintage sweatshirt?

Not much. Single-stitch hems are a T-shirt dating tell, common on tees made before the late 1990s. Sweatshirts finish the cuffs and waist with ribbed bands, so judge a crewneck by its tag, its licensing text and the copyright year on the print instead.

Which era is more collectible, kelly green or midnight green?

Neither is wrong. Kelly green pieces show the look the team retired in 1996, which is a big part of their appeal. Midnight green pieces from 1996 to 1999 are genuine 90s vintage too.
